On a warm summer day, a thirsty ant went down to a stream to drink. But as he leaned over the water, he slipped and fell in. The poor Ant struggled, trying to keep himself afloat. “Help! Help!” he cried, realizing he might not make it.

Above, a dove was resting on a nearby tree. Hearing the ant’s desperate cries, she immediately plucked off a leaf and dropped it into the water, right near the struggling ant.

“Grab onto the leaf,” called the dove gently.

The ant managed to climb onto the leaf and float to the safety of the shore. Gratefully, he looked up. “Thank you,” he said, panting. “You saved my life.”

The dove nodded. “Always be there for those in need,” she replied with a soft coo.

Not long after, the ant saw a hunter aiming his arrow at the resting dove. Without a second thought, the ant bit the hunter’s foot. Surprised, the hunter missed his aim, and the dove flew away unharmed.

The dove, realizing what had just transpired, called out, “Thank you, little ant!”

The ant just smiled, glad to have repaid the favor. “A small act of kindness goes a long way,” he said.
